I was their in July and watched the NY Knights V Northern Raiders. Was awesome, the ground they play on in NY is build on a wharf! The Raiders are obviously our sister club, but they looked terrible. They had jersey's on that I think were brought from a Salvo's store where the Knights had their own kit made by Canterbury.

I checked and the Raiders came last in the division last year - its a shame (have considered if they would relocate - ala every other team in Americna sports). I have seen video footage of the games and it looked pretty average quality (which is a good thing for me!) - what did you think?

Seemed to me to be like a ACT comp reserve grade standard, with a few giant gridiron players thrown in.

I have just moved to New York and am going to pull on the boots for the knights (there is a raiders-affiliated team but they four hours drive away!). The sport is pretty underground here - sattelite TV only agreed to broadcast the GF at the last minute. Anyway, good to see SOME amercians recognise the greatest game of all when they see it.

And, the ANRL's motto is "The Toughest Game of All". How good is that?
What is wrong with "The Greatest Game of All"? ;)

Yeah a bit like that. The Knights were pretty good though. But not to bad for an emerging nation, I would have liked to see more games. I saw a guy wearing a Mcfadden Raiders jersey from 90 there. That was awesome. I'm sure you could show em a thing or two.

A good site and they have some great magazines available like Rugby League World which came out here for a year then was pulled. The UK seems to publish a lot more books, mags and DVDs for fans than they do here.

Welcome to the Rugby League International Federation discussion forum. This forum has been setup as a central venue for fans of international Rugby League to express their views on the game, the teams and major upcoming tournaments, including the 2008 Rugby League World Cup.

The forum will be run by a group of dedicated fans who make sure the forum is appropriate for all visitors. Note: it is not maintained or controlled by the RLIF and opinions reflected on the forum are not affiliated or endorsed by the organisation in any way, shape or form.

The RLIF administrators ask that you abide by some simple rules if you wish to participate on the forums:

* Be polite and courteous
* Refrain from foul language
* Keep comments constructive - personally offensive comments about other forum members, players and staff of the RLIF or any other organisation or individual will not be tolerated.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's cool that the ruling body has a forum to view what the fans are saying. Now tell me why if they can say this is not maintained or controlled by the RLIF, that the Raiders can't do something similar. Then everybody is happy.

Club-run forums are notorious for being very badly run. Over-zealous moderators and administration very quickly end any discussion that they don't believe follows the company line or is overly negative. Independant forums allow the fans to have their say. For example, if this forum was run by the club, you'd find that calling for Elliott to be sacked would have been nipped in the bud, likewise calling for Purtell to be dropped to PL, however calling for Zillman to be given more of a shot in 1st Grade would have been allowed. Parramatta's forum was very heavily regulated - no posts were visible to the public until they'd been vetted by moderators (a few times a day), Penrith's forum has a lot of bannings and locked threads when discussion turns away from how admin want it to go.

Just out of interest, which clubs still have a forum that's operated by the actual club?

Why don't the Raiders just use the GH. The RLIF said that the views on that forum don't reflect their views, the Raiders could do the same with this.

I think if they officially endorsed us, they'd want a few more controls on the content of the site - hot tips a day or two before official announcements would be stopped.

They know we exist, they know people will find the site. They probably don't want the hassle of running a site and monitoring the content (and being legally liable, should anything happen)

What have the outcomes been in the past of officially approaching the club? Has anyone done that?

Conflict of interests and I'd rather build a no **** website. The diehards have overrun LU and made it what never wanted to be, Rleague MKII. No more trolls and flamers who quickly ruin threads. I also felt LU was becoming stale with the cut back on editorial content.

The new site will take time to get in the groove and it still needs some tweaking but we are on the right track. Less run of the mill news and more editorial content.

NRL Merry-Go-Round

Post by MSF » August 16, 2013, 4:50 pm

Hi All,

It's been a while on here, hope everyone is well. I hope no one minds me posting this, I don't mean to just log in and spam but I have created a new website for all NRL fans to access details on their players current contract statuses with sources etc

The Raiders have had copped a bit of a battering this year in regards to players leaving, but they've also been able to re-sign a number of key players.

If you want to keep up to date with all things player movements in the NRL, check us out at:

http://nrlmerrygoround.boards.net/

(Sorry to the admin again if I can't post this but thought it might be of help to you all)

Seems very quiet there atm, hoping it picks up for you. Love the banner, though needs more Raiders in the banner.
