Gee, and here I was thinking you were a big advocate of international rugby league yet you've never heard of a guy that played test footy for NZ just 18months ago

Still can't say I've heard of him.

Panthers sign forward from Bunnies

The Rabbitohs have lost outstanding young forward Chris Grevsmuhl to the Penrith Panthers. Gus Gould has signed the 22-year-old tearaway for 2017 and beyond. Many regard him as a future representative player.

Souths extended Grevsmuhl’s contract for two years only a couple of months ago but have now agreed to release him for 2017. It helps find the money for Sam Burgess.

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak taking it a year at a time at Penrith Panthers

Watene-Zelezniak has extended his stay at Penrith after signing a one-year extension, like the last one he signed with the club. It is a calculated gamble from his agent, Tyran Smith, who believes his client's value will only rise the longer he plays the game.

The youngster dispels the notion the Panthers are also taking a punt, claiming the collapsed lung that sidelined him for a chunk of last season is an aberration rather than a recurring or long-term problem clouding his future.

So he should be - New Zealand citizens with significant criminal records are not permitted to enter Australia.

Ali Lauitiiti returns to New Zealand Warriors

Fan favourite Ali Lauitiiti is coming home to finish his playing career with the Warriors in 2016.

Recruitment and development manager Tony Iro today confirmed the legendary back rower has signed a one-year second-tier contract opening the way for him to return to where his top-level career began 17 years ago.

Lauitiiti is bringing his family back to Auckland after eight seasons with the Leeds Rhinos and another four with the Wakefield Wildcats in the English Super League.

Why have the Warriors signed him to a playing role?

It's a bit jeff limaish but Outside the top 25 and behind a lot of other forwards so not as horrible, Signed for his leadership/experience and what he could teach a young squad more than anything else but could also get a few games if injuries strike and he is going ok in reserve grade. Not much risk with this signing as he wouldn't be on much and doesn't take up a top 25 spot, still played 20 odd super league games this year so can't be to out of shape and would likely only play a 20-30min role if selected.

Similarly I'd be happy if Lima was signed outside the top 25, but I expect he's not.
