This bunker better be sandbagged to the hilt because I'm gunna bomb the carp out of it if they continue to screw our Raiders.

Waste of time if the clowns are still viewing videos.

Plus, it still won't stop carpetbombing offsides such as what Parra seemed to get away with on Friday - I swear that's why they won that game, they just kept pushing the boundaries until they realised there weren't any.

Defining the allowable roles of video refs more effectively would be better. And didn't Cat reckoned they were talking the other night about two extra sideline judges, to police the ten and forward pass? Are the guys currently in place just there to inspect fingernails?

Yeah same, "I have a try, tell me why it's not"

Plus it's better communicated for TV viewers with the tmo giving his reasons

Isn't that pretty much what we've got now?

Difference in RaRa is they can also send it up as "I've got NFI what happened here".

Which is what we used to have.

I think get them to make a decision, captains challenge only for try/no try (you can't use it for general play).

The NRL says it is still planning to introduce a referees bunker

MULTI-MILLION dollar technology which found in an NRL trial that only two errors were made by video referees in 30 games this year is still set to be introduced because it vastly reduces delays in accessing try decisions.

Gotta love how when the refs review themselves it turns out they get it right nearly all the time!

That aside anything that increases consistency is a good thing. One issue is that most genuine 50/50 video ref calls end up going with the on field call. Forcing a ref to make a decision is only a good thing if it is based on something they actually saw and not if it is an arbitrary decision because they have to make one.

Introducing a captains challenge would clarify which decisions could be reviewed instead of a situation where the same decision is reviewed for one team and not the other.

Have also enjoyed the 3rd umpire in cricket talking through their thought process. At least it explains how they get to a decision rather than everyone being completely mystified!

They did this for a while, don't know why they stopped it?!

I think the video ref has typically been much better this year in Raiders games. Just the on field refs are picking up the screwing the raiders slack.

NRL introduces video refereeing 'bunker' system for 2016 season

The NRL has moved to improve the standard of video refereeing with the introduction of an NFL-style 'bunker' referral system for 2016.

NRL head of football Todd Greenberg revealed the full details of the ground-breaking Central Command Centre - to be located at Redfern in Sydney - at Rugby League Central on Friday.

"This will be a game changer for rugby league," Greenberg said.

I heard a rumour they might be introducing a NFL-style bunker referral system for 2016?
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

NRL claim new bunker system will mean zero errors by video referees plus captain challenge imminent

The NRL has boldly predicted their video referees will make zero errors with the implementation of the bunker for next year which could also fast-track the introduction of a captain's call.

After a year of planning, the NRL announced they would join the likes of the NFL and NHL by becoming the first sport in Australia to have a central command which will be based at NEP Australia at Australian Technology Park in Eveleigh. While there was a two to three per cent error rate made by video referees this year, NRL head of football Todd Greenberg predicted that number to be zero in 2016.

"We should be holding them to account," Greenberg said. "Clearly we want to make no errors. We are dealing with human beings so clearly there are going to be errors from time to time but we are setting the bar high.

Wayne Bennett, Cameron Smith urge fans not to expect perfection from bunker refs

Wayne Bennett and Cameron Smith have joined forces in cautioning rugby league fans not to expect refereeing perfection as the NRL enters a new era of officiating during the All Stars and Charity Shield pre-season matches.

The $2 million bunker system will be rolled out for the first time on Saturday night, arriving with the promise of streamlining time-consuming video calls and hopefully eradicating the errors that have frustrated every level of stakeholder in the code.

NRL are saying the bunker system is deliberately waiting for television replays to finish before making official decision. Hence the wait.

NRL head of football Todd Greenberg defends referees' bunker and shot clock

NRL head of football Todd Greenberg expects video referee decisions to be faster than they appeared in Saturday night's All Stars match once the broadcasters gets used to the new bunker system.

The NRL's much touted Central Command Centre was used in a live match for the first time on Saturday night but the reaction to it was underwhelming as the three decisions referred to officials in the Redfern bunker all took longer than the anticipated 40 seconds.
