The second one was just the voices in your head, nickman.
Image

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

I don't get why a not for profit was celebrating a big surplus anyway. Shouldnt every dollar be allocated?

Most organisations need some cash reserves to tide them through tough times and keep them viable. The NRL had none. Profits that are retained by most businesses eventually get reinvested.

Well I for one think that they should invest that money into a spaghetti farm. Or put it all on the Raiders with the start tonight.

NRL clubs receive additional $13.8m but not all are happy

NRL clubs received an additional $13.8 million in funding above their annual $7.2 million grants last season but some are unhappy they had little control in how it was spent.

NRL clubs feeling the crunch despite surge in revenues

A few simple year-to-year comparisons can adequately highlight the areas of concern a number of the experienced people within our game have regarding patterns of spending by head office.

Gus seems to want the game run by the most loudmouthed club bosses. If guys like Gus and Politis are worried about losing influence then I'm not sure its a bad thing.

The guy is a fool with a string of indiscretions, but there are far worse people still playing in the NRL than Todd Carney.

Constant mistakes make NRL administration look amateurish

IT’S hard to believe the NRL is now running a $350 million business.

Every week something goes wrong that makes the people in charge look like a bunch of amateurs.

The playing surface at Brookvale Oval on Friday night was an embarrassment to the game and a safety hazard to the players.

Paul Kent: The NRL is too concerned with image and not fixing real problems — losing fans

DAVID Gallop was removed as NRL chief executive nearly three years ago and one of the first criticisms levelled at him came from Commissioner John Grant.

Grant said Gallop was “reactive, not proactive”, an opinion supported by many.

What would some give for Gallop’s brand of administration now?

Rugby league players have united in calling for the NRL's maligned integrity unit to be held to account following concerns over the inconsistent sanctions from the game's behavioural watchdog.

NRL CEO Dave Smith set to return to the road after losing his licence

NRL boss Dave Smith has been relying on a chauffeur to ferry him about after losing his licence due to accumulating multiple driving infringements.

It has emerged this morning that the NRL CEO lost his licence due to an accumulation of demerit points.

Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.

Ben Ikin’s 360 View: Dave Smith MIA since ugly scenes in Bulldogs-Rabbitohs Good Friday clash

Let us hear you Mr Boss Man

I heard a lot from Todd Greenberg on the Good Friday debacle over the weekend, but I really wanted to hear from Dave Smith.

That’s not a slight on Greenberg, he was great on NRL360 on Tuesday night, I just believe the CEO should be front and centre in times of crisis.

Smith is a proven leader, and as my Fox Sports colleague Paul Kent pointed out recently, he has a great vision for the game and the wherewithal to make it happen.

At least it's not like South Australia.

They don't even broadcast Sunday footy there. And the friday night games start from 12:30 at night followed by the second game to start at 2:30. WITH pre game intro bs

The NRL is heading towards a revolt from angry clubs

TWENTY years after the Super League war tore rugby league apart in Australia, the NRL is today heading towards another revolt from angry clubs.
And in a move that could potentially lead to clubs blocking the next TV deal and tear down the Independent Commission, 10 clubs gathered on Thursday for a high-powered meeting in Sydney.
