2018 World Club Challenge

Post by greeneyed » November 15, 2017, 12:25 pm

World Club Challenge heads to Melbourne

The Rugby League World Club Challenge is heading to Australia for only the third time in history with the NRL on Tuesday morning confirming the February fixture.

The 2017 Telstra Premiership winners, the Melbourne Storm, will host English Super League champions Leeds Rhinos on February 16 at Melbourne's AAMI Park in what will be a first for the sporting city to host the historic event.

There was uncertainty the annual fixture wouldn't go ahead with the redevelopment of Leeds' home ground Headingly Stadium and a longer than usual season with the Rugby League World Cup this year, but it was confirmed today by both clubs.

Ryan Hall first try scorer for Leeds. Storm penalised twice in the lead up for slowing the ruck. Cam better have a word to the refs about that.

Cam has sorted it out. Storm back in front with the penalty count and the scoreboard, following a fairly soft penalty for holding Croft's arm to slow them down (just like Cam does every single tackle he is involved in) then a blatant shepherd goes unnoticed.

Oh good, we’re back to penalising attacking players being taken off the ball from a kick.. Would’ve been handy those 10000 times Croker was taken out
Would have won Boogs - 2016, 2017

Dangerous tackle on Cam, penalty. The games gone soft when I see penalties for that.

Such a well disciplined side and only pre season. Don't have the neat structure that Cronk provided but I'm sure that will improve and when you have those attacking wingers you can still score points.

Did Slater get injured or taken off as a precaution?

Melbourne so well drilled. Normally preseason games are fairly scrappy. They've been very slick.

I absolutely loathe the way they play and it pisses me off so much that the referees give them so much leeway in the ruck. It's been such a blight on the game for over a decade and it looks like it will never change, sadly.

Yep. They get away with ruck spoiling like no other. I truly hate it. It's ruined the game
