Quite a few Under 20s here at Seiffert, including injured halves Lachlan Croker and Lachlan Lewis. Lewis has quite a bandage on the broken hand.

Second half underway here at Seiffert and Saints are attacking early. But the Raiders end up with a penalty... As a St George chaser is ruled off side.

He is a big, fast centre who can run through walls and looks great in the clear.

Would be great if the Raiders SG Ball get to play at home in Week 1 of the finals... but guess it will be somewhere in Sydney. They were awesome today.

Junior Rep Results: Round 9

The Canberra Raiders SG Ball side has sealed the SG Ball Minor Premiership after a dominant 50 point demolition of the St George Dragons at Seiffert Oval.

Leading into the final match of the regular season, the Raiders were behind the Balmain Tigers on the ladder, however due to their comprehensive victory and the Tigers’ loss to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, the Minor Premiership is now firmly in the hands of the Green Machine.

Unfortunately, the Raiders Harold Matthews team missed out on the semi-finals due to for-and-against, which entailed that they finished the season in 9th place.

That's almost a home game, it's hard to believe the sea Eagles will even bother to travel that far past the spit
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

SG Ball Qualifying Final Preview: Raiders v Sea Eagles

The Canberra Raiders SG Ball team finished the regular season minor premiers and will have the opportunity to advance into week three of the finals, when they play the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in week one of the finals this weekend.

“We’re very proud of the group. They’ve been in the junior system for a long time now and we know how hard they have worked to earn the right to play in the finals,” Souter said. “We will remain focussed on what we need to achieve this weekend and we won’t be looking past that. We’ve earned the right to compete and nothing more than that.”

“We played Manly in a trial but can’t draw much from that,” Souter said. “They have a very talented team right across the park and we’ll need to be at our best to beat them.”

The Manly Sea Eagles go head to head with the Minor Premiers, the Canberra Raiders.

Although the Raiders finished the regular season on top of the SG Ball ladder, coach Dean Souter acknowledges that the Finals take on a different dimension.

“The boys are very enthusiastic to start the next stage of the season,” Souter said. “They’ve worked hard for the opportunity and they’re excited to take it.”

Canberra will be motivated to convert their opportunity against Manly and progress straight to the Week Three Preliminary Final.

Second rower William Samuel has been in impressive form for the Raiders who scored a huge 56-6 victory over St. George last weekend.

You can’t ever count out the Sea Eagles who strive as underdogs and will be eager to upset the competition favourites.

Canberra Raiders SG Ball team stumbles to first loss of season in semi-final

Canberra Raiders development boss David Hamilton says the club's minor premiership-winning SG Ball team cost around $200,000 to put on the park, and hopes big name defections will reignite their fight for junior concessions. Unbeaten Canberra was upset by Manly 34-16 in Saturday's SG Ball qualifying final, and will play Cronulla in an elimination final next week.

SG Ball Canberra Raiders learn lesson in Finals Week 1

The Canberra Raiders SG Ball side was issued with a stern reality check by the hands of the Manly Sea Eagles in week one of the finals series.

Canberra finished the regular season as Minor Premiers and as such, teams lift immensely when they play them. This was the case with Manly on Saturday.

Manly Sea Eagles 34 (Brad Parker 2, Bill Bainbridge 2, Brydon Ramien, Harrison O'Toole tries; Luke Polselli 5 goals) def. Canberra Raiders 16 (Lachlan Cooper, Jarred Tuite, Jake Notaras tries; Nick Cotric 2 goals)
