Some famous names there. Lewis. Woolford. Boyle. Croker. Gafa.

Then Mago, McIlwrick.

I wonder if Iro is related to the more famous one. And if Jack Williams is related to Sam.

I wonder if Tevin Arona is related to the Sharks player Tinirau Arona.

What would be useful when the club releases lists like this would be to include a brief bio on each player (previous sides played for, notable career achievements to date, if they're related to anyone of note).

It would be useful context for those of us wanting to know a bit more about them.

Also if we want to field a side that has the capacity to win the competition, we are going to have to stack it. Not just rely on the names listed.

That means Tevita Pangai, Patrick Mago, Luke Bateman & Brenko Lee should all be playing in this grade if they aren't playing firsts.

I'd also like to think we're not done recruiting for this side either. A couple of those union schoolboy reps could add some value.

Canberra Raiders U20s star Cleveland McGhie speaks at Indigenous Mentoring program

Eurobadalla students spent Friday morning in the last of five sessions of the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME). The 50 local indigenous high school students who took part in the program are aiming toward tertiary education with the help of mentoring from Batemans Bay university students.

Footballer Cleveland McGhie was an AIME student at Wollongong and said it helped him a lot.

“When I look back to four years ago I never imagined I would be training with the (Canberra) Raiders,” he said.

Canberra Raiders conduct junior reps induction

Last week, over 70 attendees from the families of the club’s Harold Matthews (Under 16’s), SG Ball (Under 18’s) and Holden Cup (Under 20's) squads gathered together at Raiders Belconnen for an induction into life as a developing Canberra Raider.

The induction seminar was conducted by NRL Football Manager John Bonasera, Recruitment and High Performance Manager David Hamilton, Dietician Leigh Woodbridge, Welfare and Education Manager David Thom and Career Development Manager Dean Souter.

“The purpose of the induction evening for parents is to ensure they are aware of the opportunity their boys have, not just in football terms but from a complete athlete development perspective,” Souter said.

We must do everything we can to keep hold of Zac Woolford.
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

No, but what isn't to like?

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.
