NYC Match Preview: Raiders v Dragons

The Canberra Raiders NYC side is riding on a high after thrashing the Titans 46-18 at home last weekend and the team will look to take advantage of this renewal in confidence when they face their fierce rivals, the St George Illawarra Dragons, on Sunday.

Playing a leading role in the emphatic victory was star halfback Lachlan Croker in his return game from a shoulder injury.

“I’ve had four to five weeks out and I’ve missed playing every one of those weeks,” Croker said. “It was especially tough seeing the boys having to play with a lot of players out but to their credit they have been playing some really good, wholehearted football. It’s been great to be out playing again though.”

Anyone know why Bateman was promoted to Mounties as a 6?

Presumably to give him more experience, plus Mounties were light on.

5th min Great run from Lachlan Croker, but it breaks down 10m from the line. Croker's on the ground now, seems like a recurrence of a problem with his shoulder. He's staying on the field.

8th min Brenko Lee puts through a grubber, but it was far too big. Dragons hold on against repeat sets for the Raiders.

10th min Lachlan Croker takes on the line 10m out from the try line on the last tackle, but the ball is spilled. Penalty to the Dragons helps get them out of their own territory.

18th min Dragons kick for the line is out on the full, so the Raiders get a turn over near half way. The Raiders have had their chances, but not converted them, so far.

TRY RAIDERS to Chevi Ellis. Good pass from Lachlan Lewis and Ellis just brings the ball into his hands and races away. Lachlan Croker misses the conversion from the sideline.

25th min TRY DRAGONS to Luciano Leilua, the brother of Joey, he's big, too big for Lachlan Croker to stop. Topiese Taufa fails to convert.

35th min Good kick from Lachlan Croker, Dragons forced to push the ball over the dead ball line. Line drop out for Canberra. But they cannot take advantage, with Croker knocking on 10m out from the line.

42nd min TRY DRAGONS to Matt Dufty. He runs from the 90m line after taking the bomb, would have run over 100m in total evading tackles. He scores under the posts. Poor defence from Canberra. Converted.

This kind of form from the 20s and Mounties has me nervous
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Poor play from the fullback. You don't open the space up and let him burn you

I don't understand the rotation policy. Woodford has been playing better than McGrath, they should reward form with selection. Too many changes.

50th min Grubber to the in goal earns a line drop out for the Raiders.

TRY RAIDERS to Tevita Pangai Jnr. Croker, Lewis, Pangai. He just steamrolls his way through. Lachlan Croker misses the conversion again... he's got just one from four attempts.
