NYC Match Preview: Raiders v Eels

The Canberra Raiders Holden Cup side heads into this week’s clash with the Parramatta Eels at Pirtek Stadium knowing that that they must win to keep their season alive.

“[The Eels] are a big powerful side who are playing their last home game for the year. They will not make the finals so they will be looking to finish the season on a good note in front of their home fans,” winger Cameron Booth said.

“They have a really good hooker [Zach Dockar-Clay] who has been training with the NRL side and playing well in the last few weeks so we will have to look out for him.”

The Knights just lost to the Panthers, so they are out of the finals. The Storm beat the Broncos on Thursday, but are one competition point below the Raiders at present. The only team which can now shift Canberra from the eight is the Bulldogs.

If the Raiders lose and the Bulldogs beat the seventh placed Warriors, the Raiders will miss the eight based on points for and against. If the Warriors win, the Raiders make it. If the Raiders beat the 12th placed Eels, they make the eight regardless of the Bulldogs V Warriors match.

I'm honestly surprised they are still in contention

It's been a rough run with injuries and getting belted
