Never looked comfortable out there Clarke. The shot was on, but in this situation you cant play at that. Especially the way he was moving his feet.

This will be a record at this pace. Absolutely disgusting by the Australian batsmen.

Credit where it is due, great bowling from England and great catching. Great plans.

Clarkes backfoot was deadset a foot outside leg stump, not where you want it attempting a cover drive. Marsh, Voges, Rogers all just sort of feeling at it. Warner copped a sweet ball and I cant really comprehend a lot of what Smith and his technique can do.

Absolutely disgusting.

I'm pretty sure we scored lower against SAF a few years back but I thought those days were behind us. We've lost this test match and the ashes on day 1.

we should play every test match in England and force all our players to take 3 year county stints there to remedy this (not really the first, but definitely the second). Our players lack any technique against swing and seam.

Last time we won an Ashes series in England was 2001..So we've won 3 out of 18 test matches there since.

Horrendous figures.

Worst day of Australian cricket I have ever witnessed. Trumped getting rolled for 90 odd on Boxing Day.

Hazelwood 4*

Could have top scored if a couple of those batsmen hung around.

We were all out for 47 v SAF a few years ago. Both abominable performances. Heads should roll but what can you do? There is no one knocking the door down.

Rogers and Smith (and maybe Warner) are the only batsmen safe... Hazelwood about the only bowler.

Hang on.

What's Warner done wrong? He's just about the only bat who copped an absolute rip snorter. And if Nathan Lyon's spot isn't safe I'm not here.

Still not convinced that Hawkeye is accurate. Lyon LBW appeal on Broad turned down. On review it looked out on replay. Hawkeyes says "Umpires Call" for hitting in line.
