Canberra Raiders aiming to build partnership with Far South Coast

THE Canberra Raiders, which includes current Milton-Ulladulla Bulldogs product Jack Murchie, are looking to build their influence on the Far South Coast. With proposed upgrades to Bega and Pambula sporting grounds, Raiders CEO Don Furner will meet with council and Andrew Constance next week to discuss returning NRL exhibition games to the area.

"We would like to do more in the area," Mr Furner said. "We'd be working with Group 16 and the Country Rugby League, but could maybe commit to a match every second year."

What is a trail match? But on a serious note it just sounds like more dribble from Don. When is he actually going to bring something to the plate?

Based on last year a trail match is the majority of our games

I’ve always said they should have picked the Bega Roosters as our NSW Cup side, just to make life difficult for the Sydney Clubs.

Also glad to see them reference Begs as the true South Coast. None of this Wollongong nonsense

If I was to support my home team, it would be be Cobargo/Bermagui Eels.

Merimbula is nice. Love that place. The best job I’ve had was a Meter Reader. My rounds were everywhere between Bega and Boydtown.

Got paid to walk around some of the best coastal places in Aus. This was mixed with some.. questionable middle of nowhere, shanty towns in the middle of mountains

Canberra Raiders travel to Bega to further strengthen regional ties

The Canberra Raiders Board have met with the Bega Valley Shire Council in Bega this afternoon to discuss the effects of the proposed Canberra Region Centre of Excellence.

“If we were to set up a Centre of Excellence we would be get more resources to service the regional areas and Bega is one of those areas,” CEO Don Furner said. “We want to make sure that country kids come here because we think that they suit our culture really well.

As the son of a Dairy Farmer who provides the milk for Bega Cheese, and as a former Bega Cheese Factory worker, I must insist you take that back.
Otherwise, you'll leave me no choice but to get out the duelling gloves

When I first met Mrs Fui, she asked me to go to the shops and buy cheese, with the instruction "Something nice, not like Bega or any kind of cheddar"
I almost walked out the door and never returned. She's from Minchinbury, so maybe it's a West Sydney thing :hmmm

Canberra Raiders commit to a trial match at upgraded Bega Recreation Ground in 2019

The Canberra Raiders have shown their support of the proposed redevelopment of the Bega Recreation Ground by agreeing to play a trial match in Bega should the upgrade go ahead.

“If they get the funding and upgrade the facility we will play a trial game there heading into the 2019 season,” Furner said. “We’re looking at this as a cross-border relationship so we don’t see these borders around the ACT.”

Canberra Raiders secure support from regional NSW for Centre of Excellence

A cross-border partnership is building, geared towards better opportunities for young rugby league players and fans in South East New South Wales and the ACT.

Members of the Canberra Raiders board of directors have spent two days in the Bega Valley touring sporting facilities with local Mayor, Kristy McBain.

For the Raiders, a long talked about Canberra Region Centre of Excellence is the vision, while Council has its eye on $12 million worth of improvements to sporting facilities at Pambula and Bega.

Creamy blues are pretty great
Unwashed French Brie would be my favourite

But as far as block cheese goes for sandwiches, Cracker Barrel is where it’s at. Much better than bega!

So now Dubby is accusing Big Cheese of being a biter. They are some serious accusations and I am sure an old school man like big cheese would not take to kindly to them!
