I do feel sorry for him, he put his hand up, admitted he took performance enhancing drugs, said he'd help with the investigation etc... and ended up being the only person in the whole of the blackest day in Australian sport to suffer a full suspension. Not only that, his offer of assistance and cooperation made no difference at all to his treatment.

Don't get me wrong, he deserves significant bans for what's happened. It's just that many, many others have got off scot free or virtually scot free.

   Only after being backed into a corner he obviously couldn't get out of. Lets not be naive here, if he could have gone down Gallen and co's path he would have. Zero sympathy for the guy, he stole someones spot by doping made himself hundreds of thousands of dollars and then tried to run away to Europe when it looked like he might get caught.

Former Raiders prop John Lomax has been named at the Royal Commission into union corruption as being present while employers were 'induced' to sign workers up to the CFMEU without their knowledge.

"Mr Taleb told the hearing he paid union dues for “every single one” of his workers out of his own pocket and acknowledged that employees were signed up to the union without their knowledge.

He confirmed that Mr Kivalu had watched him sign union membership forms on behalf of employees in his office with a former NRL prop forward turned union organiser, John Lomax. “I had to pay for them. Employees weren’t interested … so I had to pay for it basically,” he said."

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Good on Sandor Earl for turning a really bad situation into a life changing opportunity. That's a huge thing to do.

Sydney media ignoring Tilse, according to team lists he was on the bench:

There was a still strong Australian flavour to proceedings, however, with former Newcastle Knight Josh Mantellato contributing 14 points to Hull KR's points total as the team reach a first Challenge Cup final for 29 years.

The Cup, which runs separately to Super League annually and is a knockout competition for rugby league teams in Britain, as well as France and Russia.

He did play off the bench for his first game at the dragons but definitely not a full timer.

The Warriors have told former Raiders centre Matt Allwood he is free to find a new club in 2016.

Allwood joined the Warriors on good money this season and hasn’t been sighted in the top grade. A move to England is on the cards.

Wow that's a shock. Very unexpected. Note a touch of sarcasm.

Surely one of the dumbest decisions by a player in selection of a club to go to. Bit like joining the cowboys as a halfback seeking to replace Jonathan Thurston.

If he's on good money he'd be mad to not sit it out and get paid unless he gets a deal of equal value.

Putrell stays a Bull

Former Canberra centre Adrian Purtell has re-signed with Bradford for another two-years and capped his new deal off with a victory.

The 30-year-old scored a try in the Bulls’ 41-10 win over Salford on the weekend.

Castleford suspend Justin Carney

SUPER League outfit Castleford has suspended winger Justin Carney.

The Tigers released a statement on Thursday, but did not give a reason as to why the 27-year-old was stood down.

“Tigers winger Justin Carney has been suspended by the club with immediate effect,” the statement read.
