I think you could actually make a fairly strong comparison between the US and Anonymous.

They're both a complete bunch of self-righteous wankers.

Matt not every thread has to be about stats, or proving croker has good mistackle stats.

Again where is your stat for how many edge players would have dropped or even stopped radradra as Rapana did today.

Honestly your mistackle stats mean so little it isnt even funny....

Remember how crokers defence was **** cos his missed tackles were him getting bumped off after a big hit? Now his defence is terrible because he has no missed tackles... What a year its been
Pick the round we will get more than #oneinarow Winner - Round 8 (Wests + Bunnies)

Cheers Gents.

Papa,
I do that summary every week.
I highlighted Croker because people give him a bad wrap every other wk about his defense.

Great, maybe not, but I think he was good though. With all the D we had to do, he was one of the main reasons we held the middle 'together' long enough not to be slaughtered. I mean the Eels attack was pretty pedestrian, but weight of possession usually breaks us eventually, and it didn't this week.
No missed tackles either.
2 errors and 2 penalties aren't great though.

Shillos numbers are good too, 150m & 40 tackles

He gets a bad wrap when he has a bad game and he has been getting both votes in POTY and threads written about him when he plays a good game.

I hardly think the current holder of theGH fan favourite award, with a the current most recent posted thread about how fantastic a game he has had has a bias against him (anymore so then other raiders players) on this siteI dont think is true.

I think if you want to show a more meaningful stat about defence then you have to give credit to stuff like rapanas tackle, you have to count **** reads, or mistrust between centre and winger (probably the biggest cause of tries in rugby league outside of a kick). Effectively when the winger comes in to help his centre (rightly or wrongly) and it goes outside for the try. Also girly tackles, when the bloke goes in for a cuddle and gives another 5 yards as opposed to nigel plum on your **** mate.

Interesting that Cornish is credited with 6 mistackles, that gives the impression he had not just a bad defensive game, but a diabolical one... which having watched the game, just didnt ring true at all. He saved two tries with his defense and i dont recall a try or line break coming through him.
I mean players like Cornish and Williams are never going to shut down defenders, but i think Cornish had a good game in defence yesterday

Goes to show how misleading mistackle stats can be.

I agree pigman, I have been no big fan of Cornish but his defence was pretty good. They threw plenty of traffic at him and he handled it well, particularly near the try line.

His positioning in attack and decision making with the ball yesterday was pretty poor, however.

I hope he kicks on, but he has a long way to go and it can't just be blamed on lack of first grade opportunity. He lacks the tackle beating moves of a good half and he slows down when he sidesteps, meaning that he beats the first tackler but can't sprint into space to beat the cover.

I think the missed tackles for Cornish were still good enough to let others cover up the attacking player after his initial contact. Generally that's all you need your halves to do anyway as they are never going to be a great defensive weapon. He didn't do much in attack but he was a better stop gap measure than I thought he would be yesterday. Has it been announced who he has actually signed with yet? Lots of talk that he is going but I haven't seen a destination yet. Would be sad to see him playing park footy, he is at least worth a NSW/QLD cup spot.
Get Stuart to realise he is holding the club back and step down to player manager!

agree, I think most people who watched the game could tell that Cornish was good defensively, I think most people could also say that Fensom was terrible, most people who don't judge everything on stats only anyway
