Raiders desperate to end finals drought

Post by greeneyed » September 7, 2015, 8:53 pm

Canberra Raiders desperate to end finals drought in 2016 after finishing season strongly

Canberra Raiders forward Shaun Fensom says making the finals is a must next year as the second-youngest squad in the NRL continues its development.

"Top eight is a must, we were very disappointed we didn't make it this year," Shaun Fensom said. "With the squad we've got we would have liked to have been playing semi-final football, but it wasn't to be this year. We'll train harder in the pre-season to make it next year."

"To come away with a close win like that, in extra-time and with only 12 players after Sisa Waqa was sin-binned, was a real positive. That's something we can take into next year."

Predictable article.
Face it raiders, you would be playing finals if you didn't lose games to the Tigers, titans, a reserve grade quality bulldogs team, St George Illawarra just off my head.
They were all games we should have won if we weren't mental midgets.

Yeah goes without saying. Who isn't desperate to end a finals drought?
Surely there isn't a club out there that's like "Y'know what? We're happy to just be here and make up the numbers." Maybe TigPies

BTW: The headline? "... After finishing the season strongly" - really?
If we finished the season strongly we would be playing finals this weekend rather than getting ****ed up at Mooseheads.
Truth is, Raiders actually started the season better than most would have predicted (including me) but then fell in a heap when the pressure was on.
Wins over the Panthers reserve grade side and an extra time win against a crap Eels team do not amount to "finishing the season strongly".
[Of course, if the headline is referring literally to the end of the end of the season - ie the moment Hodgson put the ball down for his try on Sunday - then that probably is a strong finish. I suspect it was speaking more broadly, though]

I’ll make the bold prediction right here and now that we will never play finals football with Jarrod Crocker as captain.
My only caveat is we have to make the finals of our own volition. If we get there due to a cap rort, it doesn’t count.

Get Stuart to realise he is holding the club back and step down to player manager!

Can we get this with a promise like "afgtnk" made that he would never post again if Croker made an Australian side? Granted that became a useless promise as he doesn't post anymore, at least under that account, but still, money where your mouth is please!

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.
