Congratulations to Croker, Lee, Wighton, Vaughan, Boyd and Papalii who are selected in the PM's XIII train on squad.

Six Raiders named in PM's XIII train on squad

Six Canberra Raiders have been named in the Prime Ministers XIII train on squad. The final selected team will play Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby on Saturday September 26.

Jack Wighton, Edrick Lee, Josh Papalii, Paul Vaughan, Shannon Boyd and Raiders Captain Jarrod Croker are among a host of players who have been selected in the train on squad.

Well done to all.

Just a shame Mitch Moses's selection undermines the whole thing.

Anyone else shocked our bench props made the team but our starting props didn't? Granted FPN was out of the race but Shillington wasn't...

Grats to the guys who made it so far, will be interesting to see who is there some the end of the month as that will include options from possible the Rabbitohs, Bulldogs, Dragons, and Sharks.
Fine, don't sack Stuart!

There are 4 or 5 players on that list who shouldnt be. However this side will be refined 3 or 4 times before the final 17, so dont worry yet.

Congratz to our boys.

100% he would have been. As long as he comes back strong next year I would expect him to make the NSW side so out of the players available so far at 5/8 he would have been a shoe in (for the PM's 13).

Kangaroos forward Josh Papalii one of four Raiders players ruled out of PM's XIII squad

Four Raiders stars, including Kangaroos and Queensland forward Josh Papalii, have been ruled out of the PM's XIII train-on squad to face Papua New Guinea.

Papalii, props Shannon Boyd and Paul Vaughan and winger Edrick Lee are all being rested to either take care of niggling injuries or undergo surgery. That leaves Raiders captain Jarrod Croker and fullback Jack Wighton in the mix.

Probably.
I doubt he'd hold anyone back from a legitmate Rep jersey. But yeah i could see him thinking this PM13 being a total and utter waste of time... and he's SOSF

The match isn't even televised. It's good for the game in PNG, but it doesn't require the Raiders to provide anymore than a player or two. They don't pick the Raiders for proper rep games, why start now with this one.

It's like City vs Country, good for the game in the bush, like this game is good for PNG, but only one player two maximum.

I think the fact that it's post-season and not pre-season means Stuart might not have the same contempt for the Prime Minister's XIII as he does for the Nines

When GE and I spoke to Sticky at the 9s he said he'd love the concept if it were played during grand final pre-week with teams not in the grand final, rather than in the NRL pre-season

Big gratz to Croker and Wighton on holding down their spot and in their preferred started positions too!

Feel sorry for Lee, Papalii, Vaughan, and Boyd though. At least Papalii has done it before and Vaughan has been in some rep teams too, would have been a great experience for Boyd and Lee.

Jarrod Croker, Jack Wighton chosen for Prime Minister's XIII

Canberra Raiders fullback Jack Wighton will wear the green and gold at senior level for the first time after he was selected in the Prime Minister's XIII team to play Papua New Guinea on September 26.

After excelling in his first full season at fullback, Wighton will wear the no.1 jersey in the clash at Port Moresby, with Raiders skipper Jarrod Croker picked at left centre.

They should have this game as one of the games in the lead up to the grand final weekend...
heck, play twice - once in PNG to help promote the game there, and again on Grand Final day - give the PNG side experience playing in a big stadium and give fringe rep players extra rep experience since "Cleary is viewing the match as an important selection trial for younger players looking ahead to the 2016 Representative matches." and since they've scrapped City v Country game

Unfortunately, if youre pulling on the same rep jersey as daniel mortimer, its not a real rep jersey.
I wouldnt be surprised if we saw a few late changes or smokescreens now turnbuls in charge

I completely disagree. Considering all the players who are unavailable, that's a really good young team.
