2015 another roller-coaster ride for the Canberra Raiders, but signs are good

Canberra Raiders fans are used to enduring a tumult of different emotions during winter, and 2015 was no different.

It was a season which featured hope, encouragement, despair, devastation, entertainment, disappointment, optimism and more.

Raiders 2015 season review

Raiders fans will once again be disappointed with another bottom half of the table finish this season.

However, looking past Canberra's 10th place finish, the 2015 season has placed the Green Machine in a great position to revisit their glory years in the near future.

With three of the best purchases of the 2015 season in Iosia Soliola, Josh Hodgson and Blake Austin, the Raiders surprised many this year and appear to be building a team that will be very competitive with a group of players committed to each other and the long-term vision of coach Ricky Stuart.

But they're inability to win close games at home ultimately proved the death of their campaign, their inexperience and lack of game-management skills extremely evident as they went down five times at home by two points or less.

I do agree with this.
Our recruiting was very good this yr, with FPN being the difference between good & great.

We lost plenty of very close games this yr. While disheartening this season, it means we had no games where we just gave up - ill cavet that by saying we never showed up against the Chooks, we just assumed we would lose and we did. We had a couple of games where we were very poor, like the Titans game, but we were still in it til the end.

With Whitehead coming, and by the looks he is another gun recruit, we strengthen our weak link in the backrow, and Sezer to strengthen the halves, we only really need a wk in wk out NRL quality centre. I think Shillo will be covered in house TBH. A combo of Papa, Bateman, TPJ and probably another middle third backrower, or 2, possibly JK, will make up that 4th prop spot next season. We need a signing or 2 at prop for depth at least though, if we get a gun, even better.

Seezer will help with game management, this should lead to more wins and finals football next season if we stay injury free. Our depth is a concern and we are light up front Bateman is not the answer to that problem. I have high hopes for 2016 and a return to finals football can't wait for next season to begin and the finals series hasn't started yet.

With sezer coming in it gives us the best most consistent kicking half since god knows when, Williams kicking game is ok but inconsistent, hopefully a dramatic decrease in 7 tackle sets against us next year

This season was a major step in the right direction in terms of attitude and resilience among the playing group.

We can be confident our team is going to show up Round 1 next season ready to compete for the first time in over a decade.

IMO we are a bit weak in the middle.

Yes we can play second rowers in the middle, but whether they will be effective I do not know?

Papa definately is much better on an edge and imo is wasted in the middle.

All we really have is
FPN - up and down
Vaughn - IMO a bit down on form - is he injured?
Boyd - turning into a real star.
Fensom - enough talk about him on here already.

I dont know why we released redwards?? coz he can cover the middle.. We need one more mobile type front rower, a fit bloke who can make good strong tackles.

I hear they are sacrificing an under 20s player this preseason.
