Must be a big signing and a reserve signing on the way with all the spare cash we have. Either that or 3 average signings.

He was only offered a train for a contract spot, so he said no thanks.

How many injury interrupted years has lynch had to crack first grade?

That's bad luck for Lynch, especially after fighting back from serious injury. He's a quality forward so I hope he finds a gig elsewhere.

It gives me added confidence that Stuart has something serious up his sleeve to upgrade our front row stocks. I hope that confidence isn't misguided though...

There are an awful lot of players being released, and while none of them are world beaters, plenty have talent and seem like good kids. Decent squad fillers you would think. I'm a bit concerned about how the bottom half of our squad will look next year.

So that leaves us with Hawkins..B.Lee..Rapana?..Williams..McCrone..Mago..TPJ.. as Barnett..Bateman..McCrone...Kennedy..L.Croker as cover. Is that enough? No

What's Stuart up to? Check how many players are contracted on that list:

viewtopic.php?p=115470#p115470

27 including Tevita Pangai Jnr. And Buttriss and McCrone who have a fair degree of uncertainty around them.

He's said he only wants a squad of 30 plus a few under 20s in preseason. He's cutting down numbers and trying to lift average quality.

He's also said he's short in the front row, which is where he's trying to recruit. There's room for only a few more players, they've probably made calls on U20s to keep as part of that.

So despite cutting so many players, it won't take many more recruits to fill a squad.

It's pretty clear they don't care about having a strong NSW Cup team.

Two things:
1. We needed a clean out, as we haven't been contenders for years, yet alone made the finals!
2. With the interchange rules changing next year, our squad will be very different.

Whats that saying about insanity.......something about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Well done to Ricky i say on changing things up and getting rid of the plodders! :thumbsup

Too right!
Too many plodders taking up places.
I would rather have nobody than some fringe players locked into a 2 or 3 year deal taking up cap space.
Get rid of them and recruit someone better than our first choice players. That is real competition.
That is what Ricky has done so far and I can only assume that is the way he intends to keep going.
Hopefully he is successful in getting a Tamou or Tolman or someone in the off season. But if he cannot, then I dont mind having nobody to make up the numbers.

Boyd was told to lose 10kg or he was gone, he went away did that and trained hard, made the team and now is one of our dominant forwards and made 18th man for city country.

Lynch was offered to train for a contract spot and said he wasn't prepared to do that and thus let go.

I suppose if you don't want it that much to train for a contract will you ever want it more than the other guy when the season is on the line and you have to make the play?

I hope he gets another contract with an NRL team but i'm not too worried about this one.

You could include Mago as I think he is still contract. Buttriss or McCrone might go but Garvey may come. So that would leave a couple of spots for front rowers. He has to be signing someone, I can't see many under 20's stepping up.
