We could call it Super League...

But seriously folks, there are enough **** running some of these clubs who would be more than happy to see Brisbane play Souths every week. There is absolutely no forward thinking in this game, largely thanks to generations of meatheaded footballers with no skills whatsoever being given executive positions on retirement.

If a time traveller told me that in the year 2100, one of the two rugby codes was dead in Australia I would bank on it being league. There is no other sport in the world that shoots itself in the foot with as much regularity as rugby league does.
I'm starting to believe again. Don't let us down Stick.

Wayne Bennett hits out at the NRL saying current administration ‘just doesn’t get it’

WAYNE Bennett, the greatest rugby league coach of the modern era, believes the current NRL administration is out of touch with the game and loyal fans are being ripped off by a State of Origin schedule that desperately requires an overhaul. Bennett launched a stunning strike at the game’s hierarchy after NSW and Queensland Origin stars Beau Scott, Darius Boyd and Josh McGuire were all injured during Brisbane’s win over Newcastle on Friday night.

You're not wrong in what you are saying but you'd lose that bet. Union is already on deaths door in this country, and the tide isn't changing any time soon

If Wayne cares so much about the game how about he and his club start operating under the salary cap?

They really need to have another World Cup here to get some money into their kitty. Seems to be the only thing that gets em money.

Well rest your players goose. Clear on top of the ladder and only need a few more wins to qualify for the finals, rest some players. The biggest problem with the game is every coach and CEO trolling their self serving agendas to the media. Bennett is part of the panel to improve the NRL along with Robinson, which I think is a farce but anyway he clearly has more a say in the direction of the game than 14 other coaches but chooses to sook in the paper after two of his players get injured. He doesn't give a **** about Beau Scott, it's just convenient to throws his name in there.

This is not me saying the NRL is run well, but Rugby Union will be the first to go.

Both codes are run by absolute spuds, but the rugby union execs are privately educated elitist spuds happy to bounce around corporate australia giving. They are dead set the worst.

Defiant NRL CEO Dave Smith slams rumours he is to quit, declaring he won’t walk away from the game

NRL chief executive Dave Smith is denying speculation he is on the verge of quitting.

Rumours in recent weeks have suggested the CEO will walk once the new television deal is done.
The Financial Review reported as much in a recent edition.

“It is said Smith is hanging around for a few hundred thousand dollars’ worth of bonus that would follow the deal,” the report said.

“Then he’ll get back to the big bucks (banking industry), and out of the intense media scrutiny that comes with the code. He’s apparently been stunned by its ferocity.

If Gallop was sacked for being reactionary, so should Smith

WHEN David Gallop was shown the door as NRL boss, one of the reasons given was that he was too “reactionary”.

After a highly successful stint at the helm, Gallop was replaced by Dave Smith and is now kicking goals at the FFA.

If being too reactionary was enough to cost Gallop his job then it’s probably time Mr Smith was shown the exit at Moore Park. And he can hold the door on the way out for Todd Greenberg.

As long as those groups that don't watch the game are happy and we get TV money that's all that matters. Who cares if nearly every decision they've done to alter the game is a knee jerk reaction and not even close to making sense.

Jorge Taufua brought it on himself. Shouldn't have braved for impact and copped Jack wightons braced shoulder flush in the face and broken in his jaw. That's the safe play we don't wont anyway getting killed out here!

I hope Taufua fights his. Him and issac Luke should surely get off. If not then its a travesty, a complete farce.

Surely there's a players association or something that can just stand up and say sort this **** out properly or we aren't playing.

AFL is tougher these days. they have guys blindsighted mid air getting smashed from all angles

in the NRL if you are airborne you are banned from being touched. there are soo many things wrong with this game today, all the tough things which made it unique is now being taken away

New Zealand Rugby Leauge's financial strife ends Australian Schoolboys games

International rugby league has been dealt a savage blow after the traditional Australian Schoolboys fixture, a showcase of the game's best young talent, has been axed because the New Zealand Rugby League can't afford to send a team over.

I think Fox have been playing hard ball with the NRL. NRL has been underpaid in the last deal by Fox, and they have treated the code like a second class citizen with their programming as well. There'll be more to the story than what was presented on Fox Sports last night. Nevertheless, Smith has pulled the wrong string. And it will cost our code.

Seriously? I don't like some of the knee jerk reactions and rule changes mid season but overall I think he has done a decent job. The same clubs that are allegedly knifing him in the back will have their hands out come 'grant allocation' time.

Oh hang on a second, is Hooper a News stooge?
