The Raiders head to Brisbane to face the Broncos at Lang Park in Round 4 - after just a five day turnaround. Going to this game this weekend. First game I've been to since our home final against the panthers last year (not including the trial, went to that, would rather forget). Moved up to Brisbane for uni this year so very very keen to get into the away supporters bay and cheer the boys on.

Maybe the five day turnaround will work in our favor? We'll be still riding that win while the Broncs have had 8 days to calm down

The Broncos are a very good defensive team and will be very tough to beat at home, in front of a big crowd and no doubt with some favorable calls going their way.

Will be interesting to see how we go after the short turn around. Having an extra 3 days to prepare is a big advantage for the donkeys.

Not expecting us to win but hope we play well and stick it to them.

Given the injury situation and the fact that winning form matters, I would not make any change to the line up for the Broncos game.

With the short turnaround and pressure on the home side, we can't afford to start like we did yesterday. Fortunately we should have the same 17 and some of them should be feeling relatively fresh after a relatively easy second half.

IMO - if we
- complete above 75%
- hodgson goes to sezer and austin more
We will be fine

If we get frustrated that we arent winning by 20 after our first penalty against us or mistake we will lose.

Noticed that Boyd and Bateman played much smaller minutes against the Tigers while Priest played much more and had a higher workload. I reckon Sticky was factoring in the short turnaround for this game and wanted a couple of key forwards kept fresh. Expect both to play a much bigger part on Friday night and won't see as much of Priest.

Taylor will be interesting. He's overflowing with enthusiasm and that will be pushed even higher playing his original club. Hopefully he keeps it in check and doesn't go silly.

Paps had a massive game against the Tigers but I think Sticky left him out there because he was having so much fun. Don't think he'll have any trouble backing up.
Head to Head
Luke Turner - 1
Blake Ferguson - 0

As for the team, unless Baptiste or Tapine are fit, and I doubt they are, I suspect it will be the same 17.
Fatigue would be the only other consideration. Potentially a Lui or Lima replace Priest due to his work rate this week. Who knows?!?

There's no way that Lui or Lima deserve a start after the way Priest played on the weekend. It will be the same 17 and every player there deserves their position.

Unless Priest picked up an injury he will play on Friday. No way he gets 'rested'.

I really don't see how getting only 1 training session in before the game is an advantage. Broncos will have several training sessions and rested bodies going into this.
Would have won Boogs - 2016

Complacency can set in? We have little time to worry and just get on with the job fresh off a dominating performance?

I know it's highly unlikely but gotta stay positive

Yep. I can barely - if ever - remember us, or any team, doing well after a 5 day turnaround. Really dumb scheduling by the NRL. Wouldn't expect any less though.

It's not just a 5 day turnaround it's an away game in Qld !!! .. who the frick at the NRL thought that was a great idea .. ohh yea, forgot that Broncs don't play day games .. a level playing field it's not !!

I'd agree this can be scheduled as a loss .. we'll get no assistance from the refs .. travel / fatigue will most prob take its toll in the 2nd half.

Only positive that I can see is that the Tigs game could be considered an extended training session blowing away some of the cob webs and giving the boys a bit more confidence.

Hard to believe that Thaiday will be lining up today given his dog acts over the weekend. Ripping at players injuries is much more of a blight on the game than a few punches and on top of that he came running in to smash a player in the back. I hope our big boys make his life miserable on Friday.

It is also ridiculous how favourable the draw is for the donkeys. In the first 20 rounds they play 3 teams coming off a 5 day turnaround and as far as I can tell and they never have a shorter turn around than their opposition.

Even though I don't think we can win with everything against us it would be a sweet victory indeed if we could jag one here against all odds!

I think it will be close. We may not win but we have enough to trouble them. Hell, even last year when they blitzed us in the first half we came back and came within a try I'm fairly sure and we're much better now.

TBH I think we will be fine with the turn around, it was always going to be a shorter turnaround playing on a sunday... and we will get longer turn arounds after it...

Anyone notice that Hodgson played 68 minutes, but only ran for less than 30 metres and performed 28 tackles. He usually averages a lot more than that (closer to 40). Was he hidden in our defensive line to keep him fresh or is he playing busted (I noticed that his ankle was being strapped during the match).

It is also interesting that both Bateman and Boyd were on the park for limited minutes. I presume that Ricky wants to keep two forwards fresh for Friday night.

Short turnaround is fine but when the opposition gets 8 days to prepare at their home ground you've got to question the scheduling ... the answer being that the Broncs only play night games and make that a Friday night if you can thanks

Interesting in one of the Canberra Times reports re Hodgson
. finished the Sharks game with his ankle on ice
. went into the sheds 5 mins before others finished warmups, Tigs game
. trainer worked on his ankle, Tigs game
. came off early, Tigs game

It seems pretty clear that Hodgson has a niggle with his ankle but he is a tough player and I am sure will be fine.

Stuart was spelling a lot of players that normally play 80 yesterday, no doubt with Friday on his mind.

Hodgo's ankle has been dodgy since that Qualifying Final against the Sharks... or was that the 1st reoccurrence?

Nah he **** his ankle in the draw at Newcastle early last year. Could barely walk but ran it out. Rolled it just about every game afterwards to some degree.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Yeah, it's a shame four nations was on last year because he might need clean up surgery or prolonged rest and rehab. He's an absolute machine though, he'll be fine.
Also, lol at this scheduling, how the hell does a team playing Thursday get a Friday night home game thousands of kms away against a team playing on the previous Sunday.

Hodgo sat out the last 12 mins on the bench .. no ice on his ankle .. didn't see any noticeable discomfort during the game.
