Papalii facing three-week ban

Raiders back-rower Josh Papalii could miss up to three weeks after he was cited by the NRL match review committee for a grade two shoulder charge.

Papalii was charged for his hit on Dragons fullback Josh Dugan in the 57th minute of Canberra's miraculous golden point win over St George Illawarra on Friday night, and will sit out two weeks even with an early guilty plea.

If Papalii elects to challenge the charge at the NRL judiciary and is found guilty, the Queensland forward would be suspended for three weeks.

It was a dumb move, but let's be honest - if that's not Dugan, it's a grade 1.

Still, take the two weeks and move on. And I know there are still our boys with a grudge against that vile traitor, but perhaps find a less...obvious way to vent your frustrations on him, hmmm?

Besides the win and Sezers epic match winning plays, the Duges takedown was great.

While we were giving those two some extra attention, I think the real venom was saved for Dugan. Those two at least left properly; they didn't pull a mid-season betrayal. I noticed in last year's Dragons games that Croker especially really nailed him every time. I think there will always be extra venom for him, and I don't blame the boys one jot.

Just, let's see if we can not get some suspensions out of it next time? ;)

No possible defence. Two weeks might even be lenient.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

I have only seen a couple of angles. Given the previous cases that have been found not guilty this appears to be a clear case of not guilty if we fight it. This is clear separation between at the arm pit at contact. If the judiciary is consistent this will be thrown out. The only thing I haven't seen is the point contact to make contact with the head or neck, but for that to stand it would have to be sighted for high contact. We really must fight this!

NRL: Canberra Raiders forward Josh Papalii slapped with two game ban

The Canberra Raiders have finally found some confidence and they'll need every bit of it when they face the Melbourne Storm without star forward Josh Papalii.

Papalii will spend at least two weeks on the sidelines for a grade two shoulder charge on St George Illawarra fullback Josh Dugan on Friday night.

I actually agree - I've not seen a single bit of footage that shows a shoulder involved - the still photos show an upper arm outstretched at best. No point of contact anywhere is visible, so I guess if its the head, then there's that. Otherwise though I think it could actually be worth fighting. I mean, it's not going to effect our finals chances anyway.

Plea that out.
2 weeks is light and it's a small price to pay to see Dugan belted.

It won't be over mathematically, but with or without Pappa we won't be beating the Storm let be honest. Last night was a cripple fight to the end. Too very poor sides. Great to get a thrilling win but that's it.

I don't think Papa would get off if he fights it. No "I was bracing to protect myself" like Jarrod Wallace and Sam Burgess.

It looked like a shoulder charge.

But I thought one week was sufficient. Can we challenge the Grading?

(Like other people have mentioned, congrats to Papa for taking him out. That Tatooed **** is one of the most unlikeable ex Raiders players. Remember he wouldn't even follow the Coaches' orders to switch Reece Robinson from wing to fullback in a game? Does anybody know our player went to the dressing room to check up on him? You can see how our players still mixwith the likes of Vaughan, McCrone and Joel Thompson)
